Do you want to drive small courier trucks or 13 seat buses?

Most customers looking for an LR licence to drive school buses, campervans etc have access to learn in the vehicle they will be driving. Allan Miller is happy to provide an instructor to train you specifically to operate this vehicle. Click here for more information on training in your own vehicle.

We do not own an LR vehicle, because customers often find more employment options, and better value for money, comes from upgrading to an MR licence.

To drive a two axle rigid vehicle not greater than 8 tonnes GVM.

Pre-requisites
Drivers must have held a class C licence for at least 1 year, have no outstanding business with Transport SA (i.e. unpaid parking fines or speeding tickets) and have no medical conditions that would prevent the issue of commercial driver's licence.

Recommended Number of Lessons

Instruction is given in 3 hour blocks to avoid driver fatigue.  Required hours quoted are an average only - any additional hours required are discussed with individuals on a case by case basis.

Course Assessment
Allan Miller recommends the Competency Based Training and Assessment (CBT&A) approach for drivers seeking heavy vehicle driver training. Competency Based Training is a system where assessment takes place throughout the training program, and allows for re-training and re-assessment of errors.  VORT (Vehicle On Road Test) is also available, and is a single pass/fail assessment at the end of the training program.

Locations Available
We can provide LR training in Metropolitan Adelaide at a location to suit you.

September 2010 – Most people are unsure about when or if to indicate when leaving a roundabout. This is something that we should be aware of as the current penalty is 2 demerit points and the associated fine is approximately $240. The South Australian Handbook states: At all times, you should signal with your indicators to let other drivers know your intentions. Immediately before leaving the roundabout (i.e. when passing the exit before your exit) you must signal with your left indicator, unless it is impracticable to do so. This applies to turning left and right or continuing straight ahead. This tells drivers waiting to enter the roundabout where you intend to exit.
