Light Rigid (LR)

Home Light Rigid (LR)

Do you want to drive small courier trucks or 13 seat buses?

Most customers looking for an LR licence to drive school buses, campervans etc have access to learn in the vehicle they will be driving. Allan Miller will provide an instructor who will come to you and train you specifically to operate this vehicle.

If you do not own an LR vehicle, you will find more employment options, and better value for money, by upgrading to an MR licence.

Licence Information
To drive a two axle rigid vehicle not greater than 8 tonnes GVM.

Pre-requisites
Drivers must have held a class C licence for at least 1 year, have no outstanding business with Transport SA (i.e. unpaid parking fines or speeding tickets) and have no medical conditions that would prevent the issue of commercial driver’s licence.

Recommended Number of Lessons
We recommend drivers upgrading to the LR licence receive at least 10 hours of instruction. Instruction is usually given in 3 hour blocks to avoid driver fatigue. Required hours quoted are an average only – any additional hours required are discussed with individuals on a case by case basis.

Course Assessment
Allan Miller recommends the Competency Based Training and Assessment (CBT&A) approach for drivers seeking heavy vehicle driver training. Competency Based Training is a system where assessment takes place throughout the training program, and allows for re-training and re-assessment of errors. VORT (Vehicle On Road Test) is also available, and is a single pass/fail assessment at the end of the training program.

Locations Available
We can provide LR training in your vehicle within Metropolitan Adelaide at a location to suit you.
